The Institute of Christ the King offers spiritual retreats in the school of the traditional liturgy, silent prayer, and the great saints of the Church. These times of withdrawal from the world are offered both to priests and to laypeople who wish to renew themselves in the calm of Tradition.
Ignatian Retreats
Retreats according to the method of Saint Ignatius of Loyola are a constant of the Institute: eight days of silence and deep meditation on the great truths, guided by a spiritual director. The daily traditional Mass, the Rosary, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and individual conversations structure these intense days of encounter with God.
The Rhythm of a Retreat
The retreat is lived in silence, the condition for a true encounter with God. The days are punctuated by the daily traditional Mass, the Divine Office, mental prayer, adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, and the Rosary. A priest of the Institute accompanies each retreatant through preaching and individual spiritual direction, so that each may receive the light and graces proper to his state of life.
In the School of Saint Francis de Sales
Like the whole life of the Institute, its retreats breathe the gentleness and the “devout life” of its principal patron, Saint Francis de Sales. Far from an anxious willfulness, they invite to filial trust, peace of heart, and the joyful offering of oneself: “Ask for nothing, refuse nothing.”
Retreats for Families and Youth
Family retreats and youth retreats are organized in several provinces of the Institute, particularly in France and the United States. Combining catechesis, careful liturgy, and fraternal leisure time, they enable families and young people to discover or deepen the richness of the Catholic tradition.
