Devotions

The prayer life of the Institute’s members is nourished by age-old devotions that the Church has transmitted from generation to generation. Rooted in Tradition, they orient hearts toward Christ, King and Sovereign Priest.

Eucharistic Adoration

At the heart of the Institute’s life is the adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Each day, members of the Institute kneel before Jesus present in the Eucharist, the source and summit of all Christian life. The solemn and beautiful Benedictio Sanctissimi Sacramenti marks the liturgical day. The faithful are invited to take part in these moments of adoration in all the Institute’s houses.

Marian Devotion

The Institute fosters a filial devotion to the Virgin Mary, Mother of God and Mother of Priests. The daily Rosary, salutations to Our Lady, and the celebration of the great Marian feasts with the full splendor of the traditional liturgy are integral parts of the Institute’s life. The Sub tuum praesidium and the evening Marian antiphons are recited with fervor.

Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, Patroness

Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus is the principal patroness of the Institute. Her “little way” of spiritual childhood, which unites the highest perfection with total humility and trust in God, corresponds profoundly to the Salesian and priestly charism of the community. Her feast on October 1 is celebrated with solemnity in all the Institute’s houses.

The Way of the Cross and Prayer for Vocations

The Way of the Cross, practiced each Friday, is a living meditation on the paschal mystery that the Institute seeks to live in its members. Daily prayer for priestly and religious vocations is an essential dimension of the Institute’s apostolate, for “the harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.” Every Mass is offered for the sanctification of priests and the apostolic fruitfulness of the Church.
